I love getting to watch my friends' relations evolve. Chris and Hillary are co-workers from my Starbucks days. They got married over the weekend and it killed me being part of their wedding. Not in the way you might think though. The wedding was SO BEAUTIFUL! The details- to die for, the bride- utterly breath taking, the groom- probably one of the most dapper guys I've every met and I was the matron of honor so I COULDN'T TAKE PICTURES! I was way to busy and she had 2 amazing gals taking care of the images. But my heart ached a little that I didn't get to capture a few moments of these two beautiful souls become one.
I feel so lucky to have gotten to watch Chris and Hillary's relationship from the very start. I worked with both of them at 15th and Broadway back in the good ol' days. I can't remember to started tell me the whispered crush first (although I'm pretty sure it was Chris) "There's a girl I like here and I don't think she knows" "I have my eye on one of the boys here, but I don't know if he likes me back" It was so sweet to be in on the secret and be part of what is now going to be a beautiful marriage! It didn't take long for for them to tell each other and very quickly their relationship evolved. I was wish Hillary as she made Chris his wanderlust box for their first christmas, she and I went in halvesies on a coat for him(that year there was an epic christmas eve blizzard). On their first Valentines she came to my house and I got to help her bake him a cheesecake (we had to make a mid-cheesecake run to replace my hand mixer that began smoking while she was mixing everything up). The countless other memories of them I will always cherish. The paper mache heart, the mohawk, stories of waka, and when we were looking at a wedding venue and she asked me to be matron of honor. My heart is so full of love for them!
The stories of our friendships and memories could go on and on, but now, as they are on their way to their honeymoon, I look forward to all the memories we will have in the future. I look forward to watching their relationship evolve more, their family grow, the success I know they are destined for. I am so happy for them. And so exhausted, but I wouldn't change this weekend for anything. To two of my best friends I wish you a lifetime of love and laughter, and a happy ever after!
